Letters from Velez Blanco

”I took 7 envelopes with me here, with the thought that I would write one letter every day as a form of documentation of my stay. But what you experience here does not function in the sphere of words, but in the sphere of very sensual sensations. That is why I decided to fill in the envelopes and cover them with a layer of earth from this place. When you come to Velez Blanco, one of the first things you notice is the ground. Its light color, dry, cracked structure. It’s how it reflects light during the day and how it >>emits<< it at night. In the course of being here you notice more, you can see the time saved in it, lack of water, long periods of drought. This does not allow to forget about global warming and the fact that such unusual places as these are endangered.”

„Zabrałam ze sobą 7 kopert, z postanowieniem, aby każdego dnia pisać jeden list, jako formę dokumentacji mojego pobytu. Ale to, co się tutaj przeżywa nie funkcjonuje w sferze słów, a sensualnych doznań. Dlatego zdecydowałam się wypełnić koperty i pokryć je warstwą ziemi z tego miejsca. Kiedy przyjeżdża się do Velez Blanco, jedną z pierwszych rzeczy, jakie się zauważa, jest właśnie ziemia. Jej jasny kolor, sucha, spękana struktura. To jak odbija światło w ciągu dnia i jak oddaje je w nocy. W trakcie bycia tutaj zauważa się więcej, widzi się zapisany w niej czas, brak wody, długie okresy suszy. To nie pozwala zapomnieć o ociepleniu klimatu i o tym, że tak niezwykłe miejsca jak te są zagrożone.”
